Diesel Heater
Installation
Webasto and Espar diesel heater installations for boats, camper vans, RVs, and trucks. Stay warm through BC winters without draining your battery or relying on shore power.
Reliable Heat.
Minimal Draw.
Diesel heaters are the most practical heating solution for boats, vans, and RVs in BC's climate. They burn a small amount of diesel fuel — often tapped directly from your existing tank — and produce consistent, comfortable heat using very little electrical power. A typical 2kW diesel heater draws as little as 10–12 watts at cruise, meaning your batteries last through cold nights without a generator running.
Modern diesel heater systems are more reliable and efficient than ever, with advanced digital controllers, automatic start/stop, and smartphone connectivity. But the quality of the installation determines how well they perform. Correct fuel routing, exhaust placement, combustion air intake, and safety clearances are all critical.
Marine Vessels
Cold nights on the water are no joke — especially in BC's coastal waters where temperatures drop year-round. A diesel heater keeps your cabin comfortable without running the engine or drawing heavily from your battery bank.
Camper Vans & RVs
A diesel heater is the most popular upgrade for van builds and RV owners who want to camp year-round in BC. It runs quietly through the night, maintains a set temperature, and barely touches your battery.
Trucks & Work Vehicles
For truck sleeper cabs, work trucks, and overland builds — diesel heaters keep the cab warm without idling the engine overnight. Cleaner, quieter, and far better for the engine than prolonged idling in cold weather.
Key Considerations
for a Safe Install
Marine and vehicle diesel heater installations involve vibration, limited space, moisture exposure, and ventilation challenges that require specialized knowledge. A poorly installed heater can produce CO risks, premature failure, or fire hazards — a properly installed one runs safely and reliably for years.
Exhaust Routing
Exhaust must exit the vehicle or vessel completely, away from windows, vents, and air intakes. Marine installations need anti-siphon loops to prevent water ingestion.
Combustion Air Intake
Fresh air for combustion must come from outside — never from the living space. Placement matters to avoid recirculating exhaust gases.
Fuel Line Routing
Fuel pickup, line routing, and fuel pump placement all affect reliability and safety. Lines must be properly supported, protected from chafe, and clear of heat sources.
Vibration & Mounting
Marine and vehicle environments involve constant vibration. Heater mounting, fuel line support, and exhaust hangers must all be engineered to handle real-world movement.
Electrical Wiring
Proper fusing, correct cable sizing, and clean wiring harness routing prevent the most common failure point in cheap heater installs — electrical faults.
Webasto & Espar —
The Industry Standard
We install the two brands that set the standard for marine and mobile diesel heating. Both are proven in extreme conditions, widely supported for parts and service, and vastly more reliable than cheap generic units.
Webasto
Air & Water HeatersWebasto is a German-engineered brand trusted by boat manufacturers and commercial vehicle builders worldwide. Their Air Top and Thermo Top series are built for harsh marine and vehicle environments with decades of proven reliability.
Espar
Hydronic & Air HeatersEspar (Eberspächer) is the other industry benchmark — original equipment on many European sailboats and commercial vessels. Their Airtronic series is quiet, efficient, and proven in some of the most demanding marine and cold-weather applications in the world.
Our Installation Process
A proper diesel heater install is a half-day to full-day job done right. Here's how we approach it.
Site Assessment
We assess your vessel or vehicle — space available, existing fuel tank access, exhaust routing options, combustion air paths, and electrical supply. Every install is different.
Unit Selection
We recommend the right heater size and model for your space, climate, and usage — not just the cheapest option or the most expensive one.
Professional Install
We mount the unit, route fuel and exhaust lines correctly, wire everything properly, and install ducting to distribute heat where you need it. Clean, safe, and done to manufacturer spec.
Commission & Handover
We run the heater through a full test cycle, configure the controller, show you how to operate and maintain it, and make sure it's working perfectly before we leave.
